Over the years Adele Lucas Promotions (ALP) has created and managed key projects and hallmark events across the country. Many of these have been ground breaking events have contributed to the history and development of this country. ALP has always been successful in attracting record-breaking crowds to our events. This is attributable to the fact that, first and foremost, we are a marketing organization. Our major talent lies in creating new and original concepts that are current and exciting - founded on a solid foundation of social and economic development - and are then strongly marketed to the targeted audiences. Our success is also due to our being able to offer a broad spectrum of services, talent and skills and these are applied to each and every project. Below are listed a few of the events that ALP has created and managed: | | | | | | | • | Soweto Festival: The Soweto Festival is the largest event of its kind in the country. The original Soweto Homemakers Festival ran from 1983 to 1985 as a joint venture between Adele Lucas Promotions and the Soweto Chamber of Commerce. The 2008 Festival in partnership with the City of Johannesburg will run from 24th to 28th September. | | | | | | | • | Cape Town Festival: ALP initiated this event which was staged in 1991 and 1992, attracting record publicity. The festival was the first of its kind in South Africa to be truly representative of all peoples and all cultures and colour. | | | | | | | • | The Get Ahead Shebeen: Jointly presented by ALP and The Get Ahead Organisation, the opening of the shebeen in Rosebank celebrated the inauguration of Nelson Mandela in 1994 and became home to thousands of international media. This shebeen was publicised all over the world and became the definitive post-apartheid venue of choice to go. | | | | | | | • | The Sophiatown Experience: In 2003 ALP recreated a township scenario at the Sandton Convention Centre with Sophiatown as the central theme. | | | | | | | • | Macufe - Lethabong, The Family: Drawing crowds in excess of 80 000, in short, a Community Project to highlight the culture and talents of the people. | | | | | | | • | Dockside Splash, Cape Town: This company created and managed the very first Cape Town Waterfront theatrical event. | | | | | | | • | The Leonardo da Vinci Exhibition - Pretoria Art Museum | | | | | | | • | Home Shows - ALP has run 18 Home Shows – almost once a year for the past 20 years. | |
